The differences between statistics in digital is a challenge for all sectors. This issue affects all teams using tools of different types (acquisition, marketing, measurement, sales) to drive their strategy.

When analyzing your statistics with Poool, you may encounter this difference and want to understand why such a discrepancy is noted.

In this article, we share several explanations to consider if you notice differences between your analytics tool and Poool's statistics section.

🔍 The difference in statistics here concerns the comparison between your data from the Poool Dashboard and your Analytics tool (Google Analytics, Piano, or others) once Poool event tracking is implemented.

Proper integration of Poool

First and foremost, verify the proper integration of Poool and your tracking solution. The key points to check for a correct connection are as follows:

  • Is the Poool Audit script properly integrated on your site pages?

  • Is user consent passed in the Access and Audit scripts?

  • Are the lines for Piano, GTM, or GA4 connectors properly integrated and configured in both the Audit and Access scripts?

  • Are the settings in your Analytics Dashboard correct according to the version of the connector used?

To help with this verification, feel free to consult our dedicated articles for connecting with GA4 via GTM, connecting with GA4, and connecting with Piano Analytics.

User Consent

User consent is a key data point to consider when analyzing the consistency of statistics. Indeed, statistics for a user who has not given consent will not be reported the same way depending on the tools used.

When a user refuses to give consent, they will not be counted in Poool Access, whereas they might be counted in Piano/AT Internet, where consent rules differ.

Conversely, it is possible that in some integrations of Poool Access, the user is counted on the Poool side but blocked on Google Analytics, which did not obtain consent.

Adblockers and GTM

Statistics may also depend on the blocking of certain scripts by adblockers.

For instance, if Poool is hard-coded into your site, it will not be blocked by adblockers, and the statistic will be counted.

However, it is possible that the adblocker blocks the GTM script, preventing events from being sent to Google Analytics. Therefore, you will have data in the Poool Dashboard but not in your GA account.

Script Call Order on the Page

The analytics tool is usually called in the header, which may not be the case for the Poool Access script. Consequently, depending on the user's connection and page load time, the analytics script may be called without the Poool Access script being called.

Custom Buttons vs. Dynamic Action Usage

When using Poool's advanced appearances, you have the choice between using a custom button and/or a dynamic action.

On the Poool side, clicks on the custom button are not counted in the Poool Dashboard. They will appear in your analytics account as "custom_button".

This peculiarity can sometimes explain differences in clicks observed between the two tools. To count clicks on both platforms, using dynamic elements is most suitable.
