The Poool Dashboard allows you to edit engagement scenarios for each segment or group. You can create a scenario by clicking on the 'Create a scenario' button, found to the right of each segment or group.
Create a scenario
The choice of scenario type
By default, the type of scenario created is 'Dynamic'. Click on the 'Type of scenario' box to bring up a list of other scenarios available.
Dynamic: the typical Poool scenario where you can use all types of widgets
Metered: A classic scenario which allows you to decide the number of articles to offer for free before completely blocking the reader. When you choose this option, you must decide the number of articles offered for free
Discovery pass: A scenario that completely opens access to all articles that are normally blocked, for a chosen amount of time.. To find out more about this, have a look at our article ‘How do I create a discovery pass?’
Set-up scenario actions
You can make your scenario dynamic by integrating any widgets that match your strategy into the ‘+ Add a widget’ action block.
Once you have chosen your widget, you can personalize it via the ‘Edit’ action.
Here, you’ll discover all the various customization options:
Appearance to apply to your widget
Widget configuration - mainly the url and alternative option
Advanced configuration - to handle the sign in links and signature at the end of articles
Advanced text settings - to personalize the action texts
💡 To optimize your actions’ set up, make sure to choose the last widget of the user journey in the block ‘End of scenario’.
In an instance where you choose not to block the user, note that this action will be repeatedly shown to the user.
Scenario options
In this section, you can choose the appearance and define the maximum duration of your scenario before the journey will reset.
It corresponds to the maximum number of days during which the reader is blocked at the final stage of a scenario before it restarts.
That’s it ✨✨ ! Don’t forget to create/update your page to save your settings.
💡 Once your scenario has been created, you have to activate it within the context.
Create several scenarios
If you only create one scenario, it will be used on 100% of your users in that segment.
By creating more than one scenario within the same context, you have the option of running an A/B test. This option is offered to you when you activate the second scenario, you can then edit the audience distribution between the two scenarios.
To find out more, see our article ‘How do I create an A/B test?’
Delete a scenario
In order to delete a scenario, you firstly need to deactivate it.
You can then delete it, and confirm your choice when the pop-in appears.
