Your Poool Dashboard allows you to edit engagement scenarios for each segment or group. You can create a scenario by clicking on 'Create a scenario' which is found to the right of each segment or group.

Create a scenario

The choice of scenario type

By default, the type of scenario that is created is 'Dynamic'. Click on the 'Type of scenario' box to bring up a list of the scenarios available:

  • Dynamic: the typical Poool scenario where you can use all types of widgets, one article after another

  • Metered: A classic scenario which allows you to decide the number of articles to offer before completely blocking the reader

  • Discovery pass: A scenario that completely opens access, for a chosen amount of time, to all articles that are normally blocked

The scenario options

The scenario creation page gives you multiple options.

The scenario name is the label that you'd like to asign to this particular scenario.

The maximum duration of a scenario corresponds to the maximum number of days during which the reader is blocked at the final stage of a scenario before it restarts.

A particularity of the Metered scenario

The 'Metered' scenario includes the additional option of 'number of articles offered'.

A particularity of the Discovery Pass

Have a look at our other help articles where you can find more information about creating a 'Discovery pass'.

The widgets in the dynamic scenario

You can make your scenario dynamic by integrating the widgets that suit you.

All that you need to do is to drag-and-drop the actions that you'd like to add to your scenario:

Once you have dragged an option into its place, a window will open giving you some boxes to fill out:

Here you will be able to modify the texts as well as some of the options, depending on the widget (ID and name for the newsletter, link to the subscription page for the restriction widget, etc.)

Once you have finished, you can choose to leave the final option which will block the user, suggesting that they go and have a look at your subscription offers.

If you don't wish to block the user, you can add any action you'd like. However, note that this action will be repeatedly shown to the user.

If you only create one scenario, it will be used on 100% of your users in that segment.

By creating more than one scenario, you have more options:

  • Activate/disactivate a scenario by ticking the boxe to the side of its name

  • Activate an A/B test (see our Help center article on this)

Activated

Disactivated

Please note, you have to confirm any updates made to a scenario in order to activate or disactivate it.

Delete a scenario

In order to delete a scenario, firstly disactivate it. The action of deleting a scenario won't work if it is still activated:

Next, click on the little bin icon.

Once you have confirmed the deletion of a scenario, click on 'Update' in order to see this pop-up:

Type in the name of your app.

Now your segment has been updated!

For more information of the ways that you can see the performances of your A/B best, have a look at our other Help articles in the statistics section.
