Here are some of our recommendations for effectively testing Poool Engage

You have finished your Engage element design and applied the desired filters in the Dashboard?

You can now test it directly on your page! 🎉

Let's check two essential points:

  • The display of your element: its design, positioning on your page, whether the element can be closed or not

  • Its behavior: Are the conditions defined in the Dashboard correctly applied?

Use the "Preview" function

With the "<> Preview" option in your Dashboard, you can test how your element will appear on your site directly.

When the "Preview" option is active, the pop-in is only visible to you on your site.

This allows you to test the behavior you have configured.

💡This option is functional regardless of the element's status (enabled/disabled).

To view the rendering of your element in mobile version, use the inspector.

Right-click > Inspect > select "mobile" You can then test with different screen size dimensions according to the device.

Follow testing conditions precisely

Since display conditions are very specific, we recommend clearly defining what you will test in advance.

For example, we created this table to help you immediately track all the elements to check during your tests: element name, display conditions (applied filter, display, trigger, duration), format, test status.

Use our browser extension

To assist you with your tests, you can use our browser extension, which can be installed easily. It allows you to simply understand the settings applied on the page.

In particular, you can find the information related to the displayed element in the get-element request.

In the "Parameters" section, you can find all the filters that have been passed.

In the "Response" section, you’ll find information related to your element.

Test a display based on browsing information

If you are using a display condition related to the number of visits or daily display, you need to ensure that your "local storage" is correctly initialized for testing.

Indeed, as soon as you conduct a test (via the preview option or even on the live element), a visit will be counted, which could skew your tests.

To reset the visit count, here’s how to proceed:

  • On your page, right-click > Inspect > Application.

  • In "Local Storage," select your site’s URL. Then choose "poool-engage" > right-click > Delete.

This way, during your next test, you’ll start from "zero" to verify the display condition related to visit frequency.

Group of conditions "AND" or "OR"

If you activate a combination of conditions in your Dashboard using "AND", it's important to remember that the element will only display if ALL the conditions linked by the "AND" condition are met.

If one of the group’s conditions is not met, then the element will not be displayed.

If you prefer to avoid combining conditions and instead favor an exclusion, choose the "OR" condition. This way, the element will display when one of the conditions is met.

And that's it! We hope these recommendations will help you successfully test Poool Engage. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our teams 🙂
