Close your eyes for a second... You are on a paradise beach π. The turquoise sea tickles your toes, the palm trees sway in the breeze... And suddenly, disaster strikes! Before you take off on vacation, you forgot to activate THE scenario to push your limited-time offer...
Relax! This is all a bad memory now, thanks to temporary scenarios! In this article we'll explain how it works (and at the same time how to avoid your vacations being spoiled π)
Access the creation screen
Go to the context and then the group for which you want to set up this scenario.
If you already have one or more classic scenarios created, click on the [Temporary scenarios] tab and then on [Create a scenario].
Otherwise, click directly on [Create a scenario].
This brings you to the creation screen.
Set up a temporary scenario
Fill in and configure the various required elements (name, actions...), exactly as you would for a classic scenario.
In the section "2. Scenario options", check that the option "Only use this scenario during a specific period" is checked (if it is not, check it) and enter the start and end dates.
Click [Create]
π¨ You cannot exceed 1 year between the start and end date of your temporary scenario. For a (very) long scenario, we advise you to create a classic scenario.
Activate a temporary scenario
Once created, your temporary scenario appears in the list of past/deactivated temporary scenarios with the status "Deactivated, from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX".
Activate it so that it appears in the list of active temporary scenarios.
Click on [β ] to the right of your temporary scenario, then on [Activate].
It will then have the status "Activated, coming from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX".
All set! You can leave with confidence π§³
π¨ If you don't activate your scenario, it won't be able to start on the chosen start date. You can't activate 2 temporary scenarios with overlapping dates in the same group simultaneously.
What happens next?
Your scenario will automatically be triggered on the start date.
It will then have the status "Activated, until XX/XX/XXXX".
Your temporary scenario will automatically deactivate on the end date and will change its status to "Scenario ended since XX/XX/XXXX".
Good to know
Readers changeover
π What happens to my readers once the temporary scenario is deactivated (expired or manually)?
Once the scenario is deactivated your readers will be automatically moved to a classic scenario or to another scenario of your choice (depending on your configuration).
Manual activation and deactivation
π Can I deactivate and reactivate a temporary scenario in progress?
Yes, you can always manually deactivate and reactivate a running temporary scenario.
Deactivated running temporary scenarios take on the status "Deactivated, from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX"
π Can I reactivate a completed temporary scenario?
No, you can't manually reactivate a past temporary scenario, i.e. a scenario with an end date earlier than the current date.
If you want to reactivate a completed scenario, we recommend that you modify it by rescheduling its end date to a later date.
π Can I delete an activated temporary scenario?
No, to delete an activated temporary scenario, you will need to deactivate it first.
π Can I edit, duplicate or preview an activated/deactivated temporary scenario?
Yes, as with a classic scenario, you can duplicate and preview an activated or deactivated temporary scenario.
