# How to choose between AND and OR conditions in Poool Engage?

As explained in our article about [conditions groups](https://help.poool.fr/en/article/how-do-condition-groups-work-in-poool-engage-1b2ewyb/), conditions "AND" and "OR" allow you to apply either a combination logic (AND conditions) or an exclusion logic (OR conditions).

In this article, we will show you how to apply these settings, depending on whether you want to display or hide elements.
### Condition groups to DISPLAY

__I want to show my element on the Home Page until June 21st__
The user must meet ALL the current display rules. If the date has passed, the element will not be displayed.

__I want to show my element on either the Subscription page OR the Login page__
It is impossible for these conditions to be met at the same time: the user is EITHER on the subscription page OR on the login page. For Engage targeting to work, you must configure these two displays within an "OR" condition group.

__I want to show my element in France and in Spain__
It is impossible for these conditions to be met at the same time: the user is EITHER in France OR in Spain; they cannot be in both places at once. For Engage targeting to work, you must configure these two displays within an "OR" condition group.

### Condition groups to HIDE

This same logic must also be applied if you choose the "Hide" condition. If you want to hide an element based on multiple possibilities, you need to use an "OR" condition group.

__I want to hide an element if the user is in France, in Spain, and is a subscriber__
If you want an element to be hidden as soon as a user is EITHER in a specific country OR has a specific tag (like "subscribers"), you need to group these rules together in the same block. This creates a single "major reason" not to display the element to the user.

|| If you activate an Engage campaign and the display does not meet your expectations despite the element being activated or previewed, we recommend proceeding step-by-step: add the conditions one by one. This way, when it gets stuck, you can identify which condition is causing the issue and more easily adjust your combination logic!
