This article includes an explanation of each individual statistic that you will find on your Dashboard including the overall performance section as well as the actions performance section.
Overall performance
This section provides statistics from 4 key factors related to your readers and how they access your content. These are:
Poool's paywall impressions
Unlocked posts
Subscription page visits
Subscription
Some publishers interpret this as a conversion tunnel but you should be aware that this may not be relevant, based on your personal paywall strategy.
Actions performance
These are the raw statistics from the widgets used in your paywall scenarios. The statistics therefore relate to that specific widget. On your dashboard, the statistics are separated into the following categories:
Engagement
Data
Monetization
Subscription
Payment
Paywall impression
This is when one of Poool's Paywall widgets is shown to a reader through a box that will appear on their screen when they can't read an article/part of an article due to the block that you created.
So that a paywall impression counts as an impression, the reader will have to be shown the widget on their screen. It is important to therefore note that if the reader hasn’t scrolled down the article and if the paywall has been placed fairly far down the page, then the impression won’t be counted.
Please note that with the auto-unlock widget, as there isn’t any paywall shown, the signature (the short text at the end of an unlocked article) being shown will be the indicator for adding a paywall impression.
Unlocked post
Each time that an originally locked article has been unlocked, a statistic will be added to the ‘unlocked post’ box.
Even if the user didn’t unlock the post themselves (for example if an auto unlock action or invisible unlock action was carried out), this counts as an ‘unlocked post’ as the content was made available for the reader to see.
Subscription page visit
Each time that a reader goes on to the subscription offers page, it will count as a ‘subscription page visit’. This is therefore simply about the click onto the page rather than the specific type of visitor.
So that this statistic gives an overall view, it takes statistics from all visitors to this page, whether they come from Poool or not. If you wish to split this statistic and distinguish between these visitors, you can add URL parameters to your widgets' personalized URLs.
Offered article
This statistic relates to the number of articles unlocked through the ‘offered article’ widget.
Auto-unlock
This statistic relates to the number of articles automatically unlocked through either the ‘auto-unlock’ widget or the ‘invisible unlock’ widget.
Please note that the pop-over banner won't add to the statistics.
Click on discovery URL
This statistic relates to the number of clicks on the main button in the ‘discovery URL’ widget. This button leads to the page of your choice, configured in the settings of this widget.
Registered email
This statistic relates to the number of collected emails and so therefore it also relates to the number of articles unlocked from the ‘newsletter subscription’ widget’.
Answer to questions
This statistic relates to the number of answers collected to questions in your surveys. Therefore, it also relates to the number of articles unlocked through your ‘survey’ widget.
Ad seen
This statistic relates to the number of commercial videos watched and so therefore it also relates to the number of articles unlocked through the ‘commercial’ widget.
Click on suggested subscription
This statistic relates to the number of clicks on the main button in the ‘suggested subscription’ button which leads to the subscription offers page.
Click on required subscription
This statistic relates to the number of clicks on the main button in the ‘required subscription’ button which leads to the subscription offers page.
Discovery pass
This statistic relates to the number of emails collected and therefore also to the number of sign-ups to the discovery pass made through the ‘discovery pass’ widget.
Find out more about the discovery pass.
Forms submitted
This statistic relates to the number of submitted forms and so therefore also to the number of articles unlocked through the ‘form’ widget.
Find out more about creating forms and retrieving data from a form.
The 'No thank you' option
Some of the widgets propose an alternative option. This means that a reader can click on ‘No thank you’ if they don’t want to do the action required to unlock an article. At this stage, they will have already been given another option of an action, which you can set up in the Dashboard. The statistics for this depend on the following process:
1st action proposed: increase in the ‘paywall impression’ statistic
Alternative action: no additional increase in the ‘paywall impression’ statistic but if the reader completes an alternative action, this will add a statistic to that specific widget as well as to the ‘unlocked article’ widget
Take a look at our table which recaps these statistics:
